1200 Free-standing/Patio Braai on Cabinet. Including 2.4m Flue Kit
Lava’s 1200mm Patio braai on a Cabinet is a free-standing permanent braai that is mounted over mild steel double door cabinet of similar width and depth.
The braai and cabinet are made of two lose components.
The Braai is a variation of Lava’s 1200 built-in De Lux braai with an additional skin on both sides and the top of the braai.
A cavity of approx. 50mm exists between the inner and outer steel plates – this improves the overall insulation of the braai,
reduces the risk of secondary skin burn, and, gives the braai a more elegant finish.
A Patio braai , just like a built-in braai needs to be installed as a permanent fixture. It is not portable braai.
The chimney needs to be permanently installed – whether it is installed through the ceiling & roof or mounted externally against a wall (with support brackets).
It is important to note, that Lava’s mild steel Patio braai is free-standing braai in a sense that it does not need to be built-into a wall, however, it is not designed to be placed
Outdoors , exposed to the elements. The mild steel body will corrode if placed exposed (partially and fully) to the elements. Only high grade stainless steel (304) can be used
For outside installations.
Entertain your family and friends indoors or outdoors under your patio all year round comfortably.
Lava’s patio braai has a round flue pipe . Standard braai is supplied with two straight flue pipes, each 1200mm long plus
a round fixed cyclone cowl as well as flat ceiling plate to finish off the installation around the flue.
Additional flue pipes can be ordered extra – they come in 1200mm long sections.
Other accessories include 45-degree offsets and a wall-support bracket.
The braai rests on a double-door cabinet so you can neatly store your firewood and braai tools.
We pack the braai and the cabinet separately during transportation.
Both braai and cabinet are made of mild steel sprayed in heat-resistant etch black primer.
Consider this freestanding braai over our built-in braai which is easier and cheaper to install.
Similarly avoid unnecessary building costs such as brickwork, plastering, painting, or tiling associated with built-in braais.
Keep in mind that you still need to install the braai and chimney which usually goes through the patio roof.
We recommend you use a qualified installer for proper, safe installation.
Construction
For the main body construction, we use a 2.5mm double skin wall made of mild steel with a cavity in between the two walls.
The cavity insulates the braai keeping the heat trapped inside the braai.
The double skin & tapered body design give the braai a refined look.
The bottom door drops down to form a working bench, supported by two L-shape clips (no chains used).
The double door cabinet is too made of mild steel, black sprayed.
It has open top and bottom. It is merely a platform to mount the braai over and provide storage for the braai wood.
Limited modifications to the cabinet are possible on request (to add a bottom plate or a shelf ).
Flue kit
We have redesigned the flue kit – consisting of 2 x 1200mm round flue pipes, made of galvanized steel that is black sprayed.
The cowl is a fixed cowl which requires no maintenance (unlike a rotating cowl).
Also included is a flat ceiling plate/ collar which wraps around the flue pipe against the ceiling. It gets fixed to the ceiling with three screws.
Flue accessories available on request, including 45-degree bends, wall support bracket, rubber boot for waterproofing.
Maintenance
As with all mild steel braais, your Patio braai needs to be maintained regularly. Depending on the frequency of use, we recommend you give a touch-up paint annually.
Such paint is readily available at your nearest hardware shop.
WARNING!
Not suitable for outdoor use where it’s exposed to direct contact with the rain.
The body is made of mild steel and it will rust. Only high-grade stainless steel can be used for such applications.
